Cash + David announce new single, ‘Bones’

Previously elusive duo have also revealed the identifies behind their brilliantly fragile pop.

Earlier this year, a duo going by the name of Cash + David flickered into view. Identifies were kept close - the only given truth was that both adored two legendary musicians so much that it defined their name, all homage to Johnny and Bowie.

Instead of faffing around with mystery and elusiveness, the two of them have come out and declared themselves actual, living people, and not some new breed of robots capable of making head-turning, delicate pop.

It’s no big twist to learn that Tim Ross (Cash) and Liz Lawrence (David - yes, they’re delegating muso nicknames) have previous experience. The former produced a song for the latter while she was signed to EMI, and Lawrence also joined Bombay Bicycle Club on vocals for a run of shows.

New single ‘Bones’ goes some way beyond mere identity reveals. It’s the most honest, expressive piece of music they’ve put together so far, a far cry from their sad first step of getting a jingle rejected for a TV Christmas advert.

Getting by on a perfectionist streak, it’s defined by Lawrence’s all-overseeing vocals, and wobbly synth lines that etch into the conscience with gorgeous grace.

DIY is premiering the new Cash + David track, below. Get to know the band’s previous track, ‘Funn’.

‘Bones’ is out 8th December via the band’s own label.
