Damien Rice announces first new album in eight years ‘My Favourite Faded Fantasy’

The long awaited album, co-produced with Rick Rubin, is set for release this November.

Damien Rice has announced details of his first collection of material in eight years with new album ‘My Favourite Faded Fantasy’, set for release on 3rd November.

The title track from the record was given a first spin on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show earlier this evening (8th September) and will be available to stream on Spotify from Tuesday 9th September (Update: the track is now live, and is part of DIY’s Essential New Tracks playlist here). First single ‘I Don’t Want To Change You’ will premiere later this month.

Speaking about the record, Rice explains: “Sometimes you have to step away from what you love in order to learn how to love it again.”

The album was co-produced with Rick Rubin, initially in Los Angeles and then in Iceland. “I came to Rick mostly based on what I didn’t know about him, rather than what I did,” says Rice. “For some reason I just had a feeling that I would feel comfortable being open and being me and being vulnerable with Rick.”
