Punchy post-punk
DEADLETTER unveil latest track ‘Degenerate Inanimate’
It follows the six-piece’s recent release, ‘The Snitching Hour’.
DEADLETTER have today shared a new single, the vitriolic, driving ‘Degenerate Inanimate’. With unpredictable post-punk melodies and dry, narrative-oriented lyricism, the track follows recent single ‘The Snitching Hour’ and 2022 EP ‘Heat!’. The title is a concept coined by the band themselves, meaning ‘someone you might comes across who is in no way what they say they are’.
Discussing the track’s background, frontman Zac Lawrence says: “‘Degenerate Inanimate’ alludes to the feeling of betrayal when someone close to you is revealed as dishonest to the bone. There’s a unique form of unease which arises from having your basic intelligence mocked, as they reveal their complete lack of decency”.
Having recently played Glastonbury and with a slew of other festival appearances coming up, DEADLETTER are no strangers to touring. They’re set to play shows across Europe and the UK for the rest of 2023, including a headline tour this autumn - tickets available here. Catch them in the UK and Ireland on the following dates:
