Any Aussie band making ear-rinsing, excitable pop with a generous dosage of psych is always going to be compared to Tame Impala, and new song ‘Life Tourist’ only encourages these.
The Melbourne four-piece are in a rich run of form. Debut ‘Paris’ globe-trotted its way through an UMO-style aesthetic and sleepy, reverb washed vocals. Add to that ‘All Honesty’, and they’ve arrived fully-formed as a group capable of filtering easy-on-the-ear pop into strange surroundings.
‘Life Tourist’ tops everything off, packing an opening hook that’s breathtakingly immediate. Stepping straight out of road-tripping cinematic soundtracks, it’s a palm-tree lined, sun-soaked reminder that these newcomers don’t waste a single split-second in getting their point across.
DIY’s delighted to have the premiere of ‘Life Tourist’ below. A debut EP is out this September via DOWNTIME.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
