Frank Ocean scores first UK number one with ‘Blonde’
Album goes straight to the top of the charts in its first week.
Frank Ocean’s new album ‘Blonde’ has gone straight to the #1 spot in the UK’s Official Albums Chart.
The album came out last Saturday (20th August) as an Apple Music exclusive. It remains available solely through that service, although it’s expected to be out via other platforms soon.
According to officialcharts.com ’Blonde’ had 32,000 combined sales, including 26,000 downloads. It finishes above Dolly Parton’s ‘Pure & Simple’ album, plus David Brent and the Foregone Conclusion, Drake and Bob Marley.
Other new entries include Lisa Hannigan’s ‘Swim’ at #24 and Ryler Walker’s fourth album ‘Golden Sings Than Have Been Sung’, which is at #27.
According to recent figures, Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde’ has been illegally downloaded over 750,000 times worldwide.
