Glastonbury suffers electrical storm, halts performances

Thunder and lightning is causing mayhem on the Glastonbury site.

Glastonbury festival is currently on hold due to a particularly bad storm. The first casualties were Rudimental, who got pulled off the Pyramid stage for safety reasons owing to nearby lightning. According to the BBC, since then all performances have been halted, as has the broadcaster’s live streaming of outside stages.

Rudimental have also waded in to claim that lightning did actually strike the stage.

It’s not known how long the power outages or safety concerns will last.

UPDATE: The BBC claim “a lightning bolt hit the ground some distance away from the stage” before the big shutdown.
