Hot Chip share new video for ‘Started Right’

The Rollo Jackson-directed visual features dolphins, old skateboarding footage, and a huge helping of karaoke.

Hot Chip have shared a new video for ‘Started Right’. Taken from their latest album ‘Why Make Sense?’ - which came out back in May - the slap-bassy, funk-fuelled single pitches up a stool in an empty karaoke bar with dolphin-themed lyric screens and neon light strips.

The new visual is directed by Rollo Jackson, who previously worked with Hot Chip on their video for ‘In Our Heads’ cut ‘How Do You Do’. Starting out with a woman wasting a stellar performance of ‘Started Right’ on a deserted basement bar, snippets of cartoons, audition tapes, and old skateboarding footage soon start to take over. The video ends with a shot of a jumper slogan, reading ‘why make sense when the world around refuses’ - a nod to Hot Chip’s album title.

Meanwhile, the band - currently on tour in the U.S. - took ‘Started Right’ to Conan. Watch the new video below.
