Imogen Heap Plans Earth Day Broadcast

The track will be shared via Facebook on 22nd April, Earth Day.

Imogen Heap has revealed plans to broadcast the latest track from her forthcoming as yet untitled album, set for release in September 2012.

Imogen Heap has been unveiling each ‘Heapsong’ from the forthcoming LP as she records them.

The track will be shared via Facebook on 22nd April, also known as Earth Day, as a live performance from Heap’s home via FANnet.TV.

The performance will be aided using what Heap has termed ‘The Gloves’,a pair of electronic gloves developed, created by and for Imogen with a team of friends and experts. According to a press release, Imogen uses the gloves to record and manipulate sound, as well as playing virtual instruments and creating tracks, all via simple movements. The track in question is the first time they’ve been used to write a full song.

The whole performance, including rehearsals, will be powered ‘off the grid’, partially via kinetic energy created by friends and fans cycling.

Following the track’s initial broadcast, Heap will give her reactions and introduce her soundtracked Love the Earth film, a crowd sourced nature film co-produced by Imogen and partner Thomas Ermacora.
