Lifeguard announce double EP ‘Crowd Can Talk/Dressed In Trenches’
They are also heading out on tour with Horsegirl.
Lifeguard have shared details of a new double-EP release. Titled ‘Crowd Can Talk/Dressed in Trenches’, the project will come out on 7th July via Matador Records.
The Chicago-based trio originally released ‘Crowd Can Talk’ in the summer of 2022 on the Chicago label Born Yesterday. ‘Dressed in Trenches’, meanwhile, will feature five new, previously unreleased songs. One of those has been shared by the band today – watch the video for ‘17-18 Lovesong’ below.
Speaking about the inspiration for the two EPs, the band’s vocalist and guitarist Kai Slater has said: “More than old records – before that, before anything – we’re influenced by live shows and people around us.
“The inspiration comes from playing shows with people and having that mind-blown moment of seeing some friend play at Schubas or Book Club,” added drummer Isaac Lowenstein. “It’s happening on these tiny little scales of seeing kids play live and [knowing] this is something new and interesting.”
Lifeguard have also announced that they will be touring with fellow Chicago band and Matador signees Horsegirl on a US summer tour. Catch them at these dates:
