Lifeguard share new single ‘Alarm’
Their double EP release ‘Crowd Can Talk / Dressed in Trenches’ is out in July.

Lifeguard have disclosed their latest single, ‘Alarm’. Watch the band play the song live, recorded by Steve Albini, below.
‘Alarm’ is a part of their upcoming Matador Records release ‘Crowd Can Talk / Dressed in Trenches’, a composite of two EPs by the Chicago trio that is released on 7th July.
‘Crowd Can Talk’ was originally released in 2022, while ‘Dressed in Trenches’ is made up of new material, also including the recent single ‘17-18 Lovesong’.
Both EPs were recorded at Electrical Audio Studio, roughly a year apart. Speaking about making the recordings, guitarist/vocalist Kai Slater has said: “More than old records – before that, before anything – we’re influenced by live shows and people around us.”
“The inspiration comes from playing shows with people and having that mind-blown moment of seeing some friend play at Schubas or Book Club,” added drummer Isaac Lowenstein. “It’s happening on these tiny little scales of seeing kids play live and [knowing] this is something new and interesting.”
Lifeguard will be playing across the US in July and August alongside Matador labelmates Horsegirl.
