Lily Allen on Glastonbury storm: “They were shoving rain out of my dressing room with brooms”
Lily had to cut four songs from her set. She’s also set to shoot a video onsite.
Lily Allen had to cut four songs from her set at Glastonbury this evening as an electrical storm forced the festival to briefly stop performances owing to safety and power issues. She was due on the Pyramid Stage after Rudimental, but scheduling went awry when the bad weather hit.
Speaking to Greg James and Jen Long on BBC Three after her set, she said: “It was a lot of relief, because Rudimental who were on before me actually got their set cut short. There was a minute there, literally ten minutes before my set time, when they were shoving rain out of my dressing room with broomsticks, and I was like, ‘Ooooh, it’s not looking good.’ But it was alright, it happened. Luckily we were able to cut four songs; it was all killer no filler.”
During the chat she also revealed plans to film a video onsite. “It’s not really news, but it’s happening. I’m shooting a video for ‘As Long As I’ve Got You’, which is a song about me and my husband because we got together here [at Glastonbury]. Last time I played here, we got together that night, in the middle of Bruce Springsteen. He was like, ‘Come on, let’s go’, and I was like, ‘Yes!’ The song’s about him, the video’s about us, and Glastonbury.”
Lily’s new album ‘Sheezus’ is out now.
