has a fan in Abel Tesfaye. ‘Royals’, from the NZ newcomer’s ‘The Love Club’ EP, is gaining a new release as the single from her debut album ‘Pure Heroine’, out 28th October on Virgin.

The single comes out on 20th October, while this heady remix from The Weeknd is available to stream now.

In it, Tesfaye spins a new wave aesthetic, a far-cry from his own tear-strewn skyscraper R&B. Abel’s own vocals make an appearance around the 2 minute mark. It’s proof ‘Royals’ is immune to sounding miserable, no matter who tackles it.
