Massive Attack’s new ‘The Spoils’ video stars Cate Blanchett

The Oscar winner (no biggy or anything) appears in a new visual for the Hope Sandoval-featuring track.

Think of actress Cate Blanchett, and odds are, the first things to come to mind might be her multiple Oscar award wins, or her recent role in Carol; things like that. It’s safe to say that the prospect her slowly rotating face taking on the form of boulders and raw, exposed muscle - soundtracked by spellbinding Bristolian electronica - might be a bit of a curveball.

Still, it’s a curveball Massive Attack have thrown in their new video for ‘The Spoils’ - a track which features Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandova on vocals. They first released the song on their fancy Fantom phone app last month before turning it into a double-single with the Ghostpoet-featuring ‘Come Near Me’.
