Mellah fights his self-destructive demons with intense new video for ‘Death Pillage Plunder’

A rich and heavy new number from one of South London’s fastest risers.

Mellah has shared the video for his latest single ‘Death Pillage Plunder’, a track that confronts the darker realms of his own psyche.

The South London multi-instrumentalist explains: “Death Pillage plunder is about Mauerbauertraurigkeit… I promise that’s a real word. I only discovered it after writing the song but its definition pretty much perfectly encapsulates what the song is about.

“Mauerbauertraurigkeit is the inexplicable urge to push people away, even close friends and family whom you love and who love you and the inability to distinguish between genuine affection and cheap politeness. It’s an incredibly destructive cycle that I have only recently realised I enact.”

You can take a look at the video, filmed in The Barbican’s conservatory below.

Mellah is also planning a headline show in the Capital at Corsica Studios, before heading out with Alaskalaska for four UK dates. Those shows in full:

NOVEMBER

07 - London Corsica Studios

16 - Oxford Jericho Tavern

17 - Bristol Louisiana

19 - Manchester YES Basement
