Muse To Perform At Olympics Closing Ceremony?

After many a question was asked as to where Muse were during the rather spectacular Opening Ceremony for the Olympics, it seems as though they’d been held for the grand finale.

In an interview with NME, drummer Dom Howard confirmed their invitation to play at the Closing Ceremony, when speaking of the origins of their official soundtrack ‘Survival’.

‘I’m happy with the song. It’s a proper Muse song. It’s not something we just did for the Olympics. They sowed a seed by asking us to do some music but then five months went by. We showed them a few songs when they asked us about [playing the] closing ceremony and they loved it. It represented the enormous competition of what the Olympics is.’

Other acts rumoured to be performing include The Who, The Spice Girls, Jessie J and George Michael, with musical director David Arnold calling it ‘the greatest after-party in the world.’

The Olympics Closing Ceremony is due to take place on Sunday 12th August.
