New Issue Of DIY Out Now, Feat. Chiddy Bang, The Shins, Ladyhawke & More

As well as Pulled Apart By Horses, Pure Love, plus many many others.

It’s fair to say that music has changed ‘more than a bit’ over the past few years. DIY, in its online form, started back at the dawn of this digital age. Last year we launched decided to kick it a bit old school, launching a quarterly print publication, and now we are happy to announce that DIY has only gone bloomin’ monthly! Rejoice.

We’ve decided to commemorate this momentous occasion by celebrating the shift and change in the current musical climate. Where genre barriers used to be six foot high, topped with barbed wire, these days they’re barely there at all. With Kanye arguably king of the alternative music scene, it’s no real surprise that the lines between hip hop and rock are starting to blur. It’s a world that seems perfect for this month’s cover stars, Chiddy Bang.

Of course, there’s always room for the old guard too. The Shins’ James Mercer might just be one of the most fascinating men in music, so it’s an honour to have him grace our pages this month. Elsewhere in the mag, we have interviews with London two piece The Big Pink, electro-pop starlet Ladyhawke and Pulled Apart By Horses, who are heading the current UK rock revival. Dog Is Dead don some pretty dapper clothes for us, while Young Guns tell us how they feel they’ve evolved as a band.

Our album in focus this month is Perfume Genius’ brilliant ‘Put Your Back N 2 It’, which Michael Hadras himself giving the behind-the-scenes gossip on his second full-length release. We also had a sit down with both Michael Kiwanuka and Supergrass’ Gaz Coombes, to discuss their recently-released and forthcoming albums respectively. Finally rounding up the magazine is our brand new ‘A Date With…’ feature, where we send our very own Luke Morgan Britton out wining and dining the stars of the music world. In this premiere edition, we take Sheffield duo Slow Club bowling.

Oh and did we mention we’re STILL absolutely free of charge? Oh we do spoil you sometimes! Pick up a copy of the March 2012 issue in music shops, clothes stores and gig venues around the UK or read online now.
