New Mars Volta Album “Just Around The Corner”

Frontman Cedric says it is their duty to make fans feel uncomfortable”.”

The Mars Volta have confirmed they will release a new album this year, the follow up to 2009’s ‘Octahedron’.

In a message posted on his YouTube channel, frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala says: ‘All I can say is that most of the music and artwork is the complete opposite of everything we have done. As is with our band name it is a new leaf with some small familiar aspects.

‘We have stripped down much of what people are used to when it comes to us, so chances are a lot of you might not like it but I think a real Volta fan understands that change is good, especially in terms of artwork and singing style and of course drummers. It is our duty as an artist to make the comfortable and complacent Volta fan feel uncomfortable.’

He’s also revealed that one of the songs on the album is titled ‘In Absentia’, though clarifies: ‘I am afraid that is not the title of latest Volta record. We will announce it soon. It really is just around the corner.’
