New Order sign with Mute for new album release
The band have been airing new material during their recent tour dates.
New Order have signed a worldwide deal with Mute for the release of their next album, the follow up to their tenth full-length ‘Lost Sirens’. It marks their first time on an independent record label since the closure of Factory Records in the early 90s, having released subsequent albums through London Records and, more recently, Rhino.
“New Order are delighted to be signing to Mute,” the band say in a statement. “We couldn’t imagine a better place to be than working with [label boss] Daniel Miller and his team. Mute has a superb roster of artists and a history that complements our own. In many ways joining the label feels like we are coming home, returning to our independent roots.”
“This is an exciting new chapter for both Mute and New Order,” Miller adds, “and I feel privileged to be working with artists with such a long, creative and successful history. When the possibility of us working together first came up, I was invited to hear some of the new material and immediately had no doubts whatsoever that Mute would be the right home for New Order. We’ve already had a number of creative conversations, and I am looking towards an exciting future.”
The band have been working on new material since they reformed after a brief hiatus in 2011, having recorded the tracks on 2013’s ‘Lost Sirens’ during the production of 2005’s ‘Waiting for the Sirens’ Call’. They’ve been debuting new songs during their recent run of US dates.
