New Order to collaborate with James Murphy?
Bernard Sumner hinted at the collaboration in a recent interview.
Since finishing LCD Soundsystem, James Murphy’s been keeping himself busy with soundtracking subway systems, producing his own coffee, and making 400 hours’ worth of music via algorithm’s to soundtrack the US Open. Now he’s getting down to the serious business.
After having a hand in producing Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor’ album, he’s rumoured to be working with the legendary New Order on future material.
The news emerged when Bernard Sumner from the band was asked in a video interview with Consequence of Sound whether or not they’d be working within the DFA sphere of things, specifically with James Murphy.
“Well… I can’t talk about any of that just yet,” was his cagey response, following the longest pause in video interview history, plus a couple of passing glances with Tom Chapman. “But there is some news in the offing. We’re in the process.”
