New Radiohead album “coming along nicely”, says Philip Selway

Radiohead drummer Philip Selway has given a progress report on the new Radiohead album, claiming that it’s “coming along nicely”, despite all members currently taking a break to pursue other projects.

In an interview with Drowned In Sound about his solo material, Selway said: “It’s all coming along nicely… We worked throughout the autumn up to just before Christmas, and now we’re just taking some time away for other projects.”

Initial sessions took place in the band’s Oxford studio, which they’re looking to return to next month. “We’ll get back to it in March and we’ll make an assessment of where we are then, but we’ve been excited about what we’ve been doing so far. It’s by no means finished yet, so we’ve got a way to go. It’s been a productive time though,” he added.

Pressed about a potential release date for the follow-up to ‘The King of Limbs’, Selway didn’t commit to any timeframe. “I wouldn’t want to start to predict that kind of thing in a Radiohead schedule because you can find yourself six months down the line saying “I wish I hadn’t have said that actually!” he said.

Towards the end of 2014, Nigel Godrich posted the first photo of Radiohead in the studio, with a shot featuring Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood at the desk.

Both Selway and Greenwood are confirmed for various summer festivals, while Thom Yorke’s solo exploits continued with a new track last Boxing Day.
