Pale Waves' Heather Baron-Gracie reflects on the band's stratospheric rise:

In the new issue of DIY - out now - we chat to the band about how they’ve quickly become one of the buzziest bands around.

In the latest issue of DIY, we speak to Pale Waves about making their debut album ‘My Mind Makes Noises’ and how the past whirlwind 18 months they’ve had the way to releasing the album have been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride for the Manchester four-piece.

“It feels like everything went really mental, really fast and even now it seems surreal,” the band’s Heather Baron-Gracie explained ahead of their set at Reading Festival a couple of weeks ago. “I do feel a lot of pressure in this band because we’ve had so much support, especially from the media.”

It may be pressure, but it looks like it’s one the band can handle. “Being centre stage and singing these songs that I wrote and that break my heart every time I play them and doing it basically every night. It is a lot to ask of myself but I feel like I can handle it,” Heather adds. “I feel like every front-person has to be a bit bonkers and a bit unstable at times though because there’s so much pressure and it’s all about you in a way because they’re your songs. I’m opening up the most”.
