Bristol’s Poisonous Birds share trippy video for the entrancing ‘Big Water’
The new clip is today’s Neu Pick.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Poisonous Birds.
We first came across Bristol duo Poisonous Birds last year with their video for track ‘Little Puzzle’, a song we described as “a calm but insistent trip through reverberating synths and hushed vocals”.
The track came from their debut EP ‘Big Water’, and now, following a sold-out hometown show at The Louisiana, the band have offered up a trippy new clip for the collection’s title track, which is playing on DIY as today’s Neu Pick.
A kaleidoscopic video, the clip is intense and luscious at once, and the same can be said for the track. Elements of soaring post-rock collide with stabs of dissonant noise in a track that can’t quite be categorised, but is all the more exciting for it.
The clip is a collaboration with Thom Heald and Stefan Goodchild (Triple Geek), who has previously worked on live visuals for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Peter Gabriel and Queen.
