Pure Love: ‘I Don’t Think Anyone Walked Out This Time!’
Pure Love played their second ever show, and gave DIY an insight into how it all went.
Pure Love played their second ever show last night at The Scala in London, and we caught up with the pair to find out how things went.
‘I think it went great!’ begins Frank Carter. ‘I know we were a bit, well, it was our second show there were still a few little niggles we were working out. It was fine though - there are a few little bits that we need to iron out, but it was good.’
‘I had a great time. I had a lot of fun and I felt a lot more confident playing this show. I think people knew a little more of what to expect. Even when they started, I was like, ‘Okay, they’re still very uncertain,” he laughs. ‘It almost appeared like that they had come back a second time to make sure it wasn’t a joke…’
‘But I don’t think anyone walked out this time!’ adds guitarist Jim Carroll.
Did people actually leave your debut show, at Bush Hall, back in February?
‘We know people walked out the first time,’ says Carter.
‘We had confirmation that at least two people with flat brim caps left,’ comments Carroll. ‘Which I’m happy that they did, because I never want to see that look in my life!’
‘Yesterday was fucking great though,’ concludes Carter. ‘I’ve never had that much fun at a show ever. It was so calm and relaxed and it felt great, and I felt good! I came off stage thinking I could do it twenty more times.’
Pure Love also recently announced details their debut single, which will be released on 23rd July.
The track is called ‘Handsome Devils Club’, and it follows on from their previous free download ‘Bury My Bones’.
‘It’s called the ‘Handsome Devils Club’. It’s just a straight forward rock song that came together pseudo-last minute,’ explains Carter, before Carroll details further. ‘Yeah, it was a song that I had for over a year and I actually had different vocal on it before we started playing together. Then, we were doing studio doing pre-production in the studio and it was before one of the last nights we were in there that I took this song to Frank. He put vocals to it and then we recorded it two days later.’
‘I was so angry at him! He’d been holding back on this gold!’
The band’s debut album - which was produced in Brooklyn, and is now nearly finished - will be released in October via Vertigo Records.
The duo be touring material from the record this summer, playing a support date with Biffy Clyro, and spots at Reading & Leeds Festival and Dot To Dot.
