Sia and Chet Faker win big at ARIA Awards, Sia gives away prize to fans
Sia picks up stick for not turning up to the Sydney ceremony.
Sia was the big winner at this year’s ARIA Awards in Sydney, celebrating the best in Australian music, with Chet Faker (pictured) also amongst the winners.
Four prizes were handed out to Sia, who won the big award (best album with ‘1000 Forms of Fear’), plus best female artist, best pop release and best video for ‘Chandelier’.
Speaking after the awards on Twitter, the artist called out the “shit” she received from online commenters after choosing not to turn up to the ceremony. She then chose to give her ARIA Awards to four lucky fans of her choice.
Elsewhere on the night, Chet Faker won best male artist and best independent release for ‘Built on Glass’, which came out earlier this year. Iggy Azalea picked up best breakthrough artist, with Charli XCX accepting the prize on her behalf.
