Slipknot return with new video for ‘The Negative One’
The Iowa band are gearing up to release their first album in six years.
It’s been six years since Slipknot last released an album but that looks all set to change in 2014. Having already unveiled a first taste of their forthcoming fifth record in the form of ‘The Negative One’, which followed a handful of mysterious clues that appeared on their official website last week, there’s now a video to go alongside it.
All chaos and creepiness, the latest clip from the band was directed by their own percussionist, M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan and features a handful of rather possessed-looking characters, clawing at their skin and caressing animal horns.
The video is also yet to showcase the brand new masks of the band - as tends to be tradition with the group - and maintains the mystery surrounding their current line-up.
Their new album, which is rumoured for release later this year, will be their first since the Iowa collective released ‘All Hope Is Gone’ in 2008. It’ll be their first studio full-length since bassist Paul Gray passed away in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison parted ways with the group “for personal reasons” late last year.

The band currently have two live performances scheduled, when they play two separate headlining sets at their own Knotfest. It takes place in San Bernardino, CA on 25th and 26th August, with each day boasting a different setlist. Other acts set to appear include Danzig, Of Mice and Men, Anthrax, Killswitch Engage and Atreyu.
