Soak streams ‘Before We Forgot How to Dream’ album in full

Rough Trade release is out 1st June.

Derry songwriter SOAK is streaming her debut album ‘Before We Forgot How to Dream’ in full, one week ahead of its 1st June release on Rough Trade.

Bridies Monds-Watson’s first work sticks to the simple, affecting songwriting style led by last year’s ‘Blud’ single. But as evidenced by ‘Sea Creatures’, there’s a sense of expansion running through the LP. Anything but a minimal, standard fare acoustic work, it’s a daring debut that’s more than open to new ideas.

El Hunt’s review says SOAK “writes astutely” about “boredom, confusion and love” with “believe, all-absorbing honesty”.

Listen to SOAK’s debut via NPR here. Pre-order the album on iTunes.

SOAK will play Latitude (16th-19th July) and Positivus (17th-19th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
