Derry songwriter SOAK has unveiled a new single in the shape of ‘Sea Creatures’.

Taken from her forthcoming debut album - out later this year on Rough Trade, more details forthcoming - it follows on from the ‘B a noBody’ single and the ‘Blud’ breakthrough, which came out on CHVRCHES’ Goodbye Records.

With ‘Sea Creatures’, Bridie Monds-Watson has created a song that drifts with elegance and poise. Like her previous single, the track was written at the age of thirteen.

Speaking to DIY about her debut album, she said: “I could probably make a thirty-track album, not of new stuff, just stuff over the years that has substance on it. This being my debut and the fact I’ve been writing for so long, it shows such a span. You can tell the songs that are older the others, and you can tell there’s an actual experience within them.”

Soak is featured as part of DIY’s ‘Class of 2015’ series, in which Bridie Monds-Watson talks dinosaur tattoos and skateboarding. Read the interview with Soak here.
