Sorry return with ‘Waxwing’, their first new music in two years
It lands ahead of the band’s turn supporting Fontaines DC on their November UK and Irish tour.

London’s Sorry are back with new single ‘Waxwing’, a synth-led, futuristic number that’s their first release since 2022 (aside from last year’s ‘Screaming In The Rain Again’, a re-imagining of previous cut ‘Screaming In The Rain’).
Having released their breakout debut album ‘925’ in 2020, the band shared follow up LP ‘Anywhere But Here’ in 2022; this new track, meanwhile, lands just ahead of their forthcoming tour of the UK and Ireland supporting Fontaines DC.
Structured around lyrics lifted from Toni Basil’s ‘Hey Mickey’, ‘Waxwing’ distorts the sugar-sweet pop of the original version into something darker, choppier, and altogether more unsettling. Of the single, Sorry’s Asha Lorenz has simply commented: “Mickey is desire ? Mickey is the bomb? Mickey makes me money? Mickey makes my songs? Mickey makes a poem? Mickey in the drugs ? Mickey is liar ? Mickey making love? Mickey is desire ?”
