The Bohicas prepare for Sound City: “I love Liverpool”

“We’ll be playing songs off our forthcoming debut album,” says frontman Dominic McGuinness.

The Bohicas’ frontman Dominic McGuinness is practically a Sound City veteran - “I’ve been a few times and we played it last year,” he says of the inner-city festival. “It was great. I love Liverpool. I used to visit it a lot as my brother used to live there and I used to go out with a girl who lived there too.”

This year the band are heading back for the Docklands event (running from 22nd - 24th May), where they’ll play on the Baltic Stage in partnership with DIY, headlined by Fucked Up, Swans and Peace.

They’ll be joined by The Vaccines, The Flaming Lips, Belle & Sebastian, Spring King, Gengahr, Honeyblood, Slaves, Palace and Yak. Plus “Bill Ryder Jones is playing, I’ve been enjoying his last album and I’ve never seen him live so I hope I’m able to catch that.”

“We’ll be playing songs off our debut album which comes out later in the summer,” Dominic adds. “Depending on how we feel we may chuck a cover in too. We’ve recently been playing ‘Soldier Of Love’ by Arthur Alexander or ‘Darlin’’ by The Beach Boys.

“‘Swarm’ has always been the best song to play live for us. We’ve always closed the set with it. It’s dumb as fuck. Two chords. Two note riff. Boom boom bap boom boom boom bap.”
