Nell Mescal shares newest single ‘Settles’

Irish singer-songwriter Nell Mescal has returned with her second new track of the year, this time in the form of the serene ‘Settles’. The track follows on from her most recent single, the raw-edged ‘Kissing The Ground’, which landed back in April, and gives another hint at what could come next from the poignant singer. 

“‘Settles’ is a love song about a long distance relationship where it feels like the time spent together is fleeting and that you always seem to be saying goodbye to each other at an airport,” Nell has said, of the more pop-indebted track. “It’s about the hope that one day the dust will settle, life will get less busy and the two of you will get to be together without any interruptions. It’s about reassurance, yearning, hope and loving someone from a distance.”

Alongside the release of her new music, the singer also has a handful of live shows scheduled, including an intimate performance at Ellie’s in London later this month, before she makes festival appearances at Kendal Calling, All Points East and none other than DIY’s own event, DIY Alive 2026, this October.
