Listen Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner share debut The Smile single ‘You Will Never Work In Television Again’

The group are performing three live shows later this month.
Joining forces for new supergroup The Smile, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet’s Tom Skinner have shared their debut single ‘You Will Never Work In Television Again’.
First heard in the band’s secret show as part of last year’s Glastonbury event Live At Worthy Farm, the track was produced by Nigel Godrich.
Speaking about their Glastonbury debut, we wrote, “The evening’s main surprise turn comes from the debut outing of The Smile - the new trio formed of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, plus Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner. Recorded in oppressive, CCTV-style footage, under swathes of dust sheets, it’s an aesthetic that suits the music: unsettling, intense tracks that veer from mathy guitars to more haunted piano but maintain an aura of friction throughout. There’s obvious nods to their first band, but also a predominant sense of sneering danger and, dare we say it, fun? ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, we are called The Smile - not the smile as in ‘haha’, more like the guy who lies to you every day,’ snarls Yorke.”
Alongside the debut track, The Smile have also announced that they will be playing three live shows within a 24 hour period at Magazine London on the 29th and 30th January. And for those not attending in person, anyone can join the show via livestream from anywhere in the world!

The Smile - A Light For Attracting Attention
It all feels remarkably familiar, but given the record’s pedigree, that’s far from a bad thing.
