The Weeknd performs ‘Earned It’ on The Tonight Show

The Weeknd dropped into The Tonight Show last night, performing a track penned for the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ soundtrack. Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Abel Tesfaye took to the stage to play ‘Earned It’, backed by a full band.

Beginning with just a piano playing, Tesfaye stands alone in the limelight, crooning the ballad free from effects and gimmicks. On the smooth, pristine rendition, the other members quietly enter the frame, with their presence felt most during the track’s peak.

‘Earned It’ is one of two tracks that Abel Tesfaye penned for the movie’s soundtrack, the other being the Mike Dean produced ‘Where You Belong’. The film is out in UK cinemas today and the soundtrack was released earlier this week.
