United Fruit take the throne with their ‘Nightmare, Recovery’ EP
Streaming first on DIY, the band’s impassioned anthemia has never sounded so vital.
There’s more to timeless punk than fuzz and fury. It’s a feeling, a movement, captured in sound. The Hold Steady had it in spades; recently Beach Slang have picked up the baton. United Fruit are next for the throne.
Their new ‘Nightmare, Recovery’ EP - streaming in full below, exclusively on DIY - is a flawless exercise in soaring, anthemic punk-rock. Rushing forward and staking a claim for arena stages, there’s an urgency in every step. “We wanted to make a more upfront sounding record than we had before,” admits guitarist Stuart Galbraith, and there’s no doubting they’ve succeeded. Four long years after their underground hit of a debut album, ‘Fault Lines’, they’re back - three tracks of flawless, impassioned, life-affirming and utterly unashamed rock, it’s a massive next step.
Stream ‘Nightmare, Recovery’ below in full. This Saturday (14th November) sees them celebrate the record’s release with a show at the appropriately named Hug & Pint in Glasgow.
