Apocalypse please
Vessels get post-apocalyptic in the video for ‘Mobilise’
Their new album ‘The Great Distraction’ is out today!

Today, Vessels have released their new album ‘The Great Distraction’, following a string of teaser tracks.
Back in August, they shared ‘Mobilise’, and speaking about the track the band said: “‘Mobilise’ feels like the heart of the album and the band. It has an energy that captures everything we’re about with its locking polyrhythms and sense of yearning - full of hope and melancholy. We definitely get the shivers when we play it live, and the bliss out section in the middle is a highlight of the set”.
The track now has a brand new video, which was filmed in the mouth of the Thames Estruary and around the Red Sands Forts. It features members of the band and a champion British Jet Ski free-rider wearing a mask. It gives off the impression of a post-apocalyptic landscape covered in water. Like ‘Waterworld’ but better.
Director Alexander Darby explained: “The track felt to me like an eerie dystopian call to arms, something set in a futuristic and dangerous place. But it also combines such a strong build with a more playful sensibility - especially at the end - so I thought it would be cool to make the hero of it a gas-masked Jet Ski punk”.
Vessels will be heading out across the UK in support of ‘The Great Distraction’ very soon. Kicking off in Leeds, they’ll be off to Brighton, London, Manchester, Cardiff and Glasgow. Tickets are on sale now.
