Pre-Radiohead
Watch Thom Yorke perform ‘High and Dry’ with old band Headless Chickens
‘The Bends’ track surfaced before the Radiohead days.
New footage has emerged of Thom Yorke performing ‘High and Dry’ with his old band, Headless Chickens, before Radiohead even formed.
Aged twenty, the frontman can be seen playing a different rendition of the track to the one best known on Radiohead’s second album, ‘The Bends’. Back in the day, Headless Chickens picked up attention in their Exeter scene - Yorke fronted the group, joined by Simon Shackleton, John Matthias, Laura Forrest-Hay, Martin Brooks, Andy Hills and Lindsey Moore.
Headless Chickens was put on the backburner when Yorke decided to bring his other old band, On A Friday, back to life. They’d go on to become Radiohead.
Watch the newly-emerged footage below. Radiohead are currently working on their new album, the follow-up to ‘The King of Limbs’.
