Watch Twelve Years Of DFA Records In Thirteen Minutes
As DFA Records get ready to celebrate their twelfth anniversary, Red Bull Music Academy have put together a short film chronicling its life.

DFA Records are going to be celebrating their twelfth anniversary this month, and to commemorate, the Red Bull Music Academy has put together a short film about the life of the label.
The thirteen-minute clip, which spans the label’s remarkable twelve years, gives you an insight into the label’s founding history, key players and, of course, just a taste of its vast roster. With interviews from the likes of The Rapture, Holy Ghost!, Sinkane and YACHT, there’s also glimpses into everything from the label’s office, studio and day-to-day routine, to the last affect it has had on music. There’s even lessons in how to do ‘the DFA dance’ along with some rather beautifully embarrassing old photos.
Oh, and James Murphy is wearing a rather wonderful hat, as he sits on a cruise being interviewed. What more could you hope for?
Check out the documentary, titled ‘12 Years of DFA: Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic’, below.
