Wolf Alice unveil video for ‘Just Two Girls’, a love letter to female friendship
The band’s latest album, ‘The Clearing’, has also just been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious Mercury Prize.

Hot on the heels of dropping their huge new album ‘The Clearing’, Wolf Alice have now shared an irresistible video for LP highlight ‘Just Two Girls’ - a track that pays homage to the unmatched connection between besties.
A joyous celebration of female friendship - of being deeply, truly understood by your BFF - the visualiser sees Ellie Rowsell and actor Lucy Boynton take girls’ night to the next level, revelling in the fun and freedom of each other’s company. Speaking on the idea behind the track, Ellie has explained: “I was inspired by going for dinner with my friends - a couple of friends, at different times, just one-on-one. I noticed how much I was saying ‘Oh my god yeah, you’re so right!’, and I thought it was so nice to see how validating these conversations with my girlfriends are, how much I’m learning in these chats.”
Continuing, she muses: “I think I’ve been trying to figure out a lot of things, like getting older. I feel it’s really been a strange time of thinking about appearance. And these are things you hash out with your girlfriends and suddenly you don’t feel so shit about them again. I just felt like there deserved to be a song about that.”
Beyond achieving commercial success and nabbing a UK Number One, ‘The Clearing’ has also seen Wolf Alice shortlisted for the 2025 Mercury Prize (an award they won back in 2018 for ‘Visions Of A Life’) alongside the likes of Fontaines DC, Sam Fender, and FKA twigs. The winner will be announced at this year’s ceremony in Newcastle on 16th October, so watch this space!
In the meantime, you can check out the Colin Solal Cardo-directed video for yourself - and revisit our ranking of Wolf Al’s best tracks (pre ‘The Clearing’, mind) - below.
