Yuk Foo, Tories
Wolf Alice to perform alongside Sink the Pink at the Tories Out March
The anti Conservative-DUP demonstration will also feature a speech by John McDonnell, and loads of other performances.
In a giant ‘Yuk Foo’ towards Theresa May, the Conservatives, and their newly-confirmed arrangement with Northern Irish political party the DUP, Wolf Alice are set to perform at London’s Tories Out March on 1st July.
Along the way, Sink the Pink - the LGBT club night institution who hosted the poptastic Mighty Hoopla festival earlier this summer - will have their own float. Captain Ska, whose anti-Theresa May song ‘Liar Liar’ reached number four in the charts, will also perform at the demonstration.
Assembling at 12pm outside the BBC Broadcasting House, the demonstration will march to Parliament Square, where the likes of Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, representatives from the Green Party, and various other community and campaign leaders will address the crowd.
A minutes silence will be held during the event, for all victims of the recent Grenfell Tower tragedy, followed by a minutes applause for the emergency services that responded so bravely to the disaster.
“Theresa May can find an extra £1Billion for the DUP but can’t find the money to properly fund our NHS, or for decent housing, education and secure jobs for the rest of us,” said Sam Fairbairn, National Secretary of the People’s Assembly. “What’s become blatantly clear is austerity is an idealogical choice not a necessity. It’s time for a change and this demonstration is just the start of a huge campaign that won’t stop until the greedy Tories are out of office.”
The event kicks off on 1st July. Many more performances and speakers are yet to be announced. Full details here.
