Nectar Woode - It’s Like I Never Left

Nectar Woode’s distinct blend of jazz and neo-soul has really marked her out for attention; ‘it’s like I never left’ follows a brace of impressive EPs to offer another tantalising glimpse at the newcomer’s developing sound. ‘Only Happen’ is carried by Nectar’s vocals, which are rightly placed front and centre, colouring the track as contemporary but with shades of eras gone by. ‘Lose’, meanwhile, injects electro-pop into the mix, and ‘Ama Said’ is built around a trip hop-like beat. A short but sweet collection that justifies the burgeoning excitement around her and shows off both her impressive vocal range and stylistic shapeshifting, it’s a project full of delights for fans of Olivia Dean or RAYE.
