Latitude 2015
Santigold brings ridiculous outfits and infectious fun to Latitude 2015
She proves herself as one of the more larger than life acts to be performing today.
It’s fair to say that you spot some rather interesting outfits during festival season but when it comes to Santigold’s on-stage gear, no one’s going to beat her in the outlandish stakes. Setting the scene for her appearance on the Obelisk stage, a pair of dancers, dressed in bright yellow coordinating jumpers and sweatpants - printed with bold black words like ‘Sausages’ and ‘Chips’ - emerge from the wings and poise themselves silently on either side of the stage. This set is going to be anything but average.
Instantly, Santi White bursts onto stage with early offering ‘You’ll Find A Way’ and proves herself as one of the more larger than life acts to be performing today. Having tied a giant orange bow around her head, she’s dressed in a matching blue checked sweater and sweatpants adorned with a Martin Parr egg-on-toast illustration. Her DJ boasts a similar teacup design: it’s clear that something’s going on here.
Unsurprisingly, having a good time is high on Santi’s list of priorities for the Latitude crowd; from blasting through some of her best known hits to synchronised dance routines involving selfie sticks, there’s an ever so slight air of the ridiculousness but it all works brilliantly. Throw in a rendition of ‘Creator’ during which she invites a good fifty fans up on stage to dance with her and it’s hard not to be drawn into the surreal wonder that she offers up. Fun, ridiculous and brilliantly sassy, Santigold is infectiously good this evening and the prospect of what comes next is looking tasty.

Not so much reigniting the spark that drew so many to her sound first time around, but a decent job of drawing a line from old to new and updating it.
