Reading 2016

SWMRS bring Reading 2016 to a raucous beginning

The Pit is truly woken up on the festival’s first day.

It literally took thirty seconds for the first moshpit of Reading 2016 to erupt, and we have SWMRS to thank. The Pit stage is a hive of activity today, with sets from the likes of Creeper, Superheaven and Citizen to come, and the Californians well and truly break it in.

‘Uncool’, from last year’s ‘Drive North’ LP, sees any remaining cobwebs blown away, and this year’s Reading opened in brutal fashion. The band are clearly blown away by the reaction, and it’s justified, even so early on the first day.

Moshpits, walls of death and friends on shoulders becomes commonplace by track two, and while the tent isn’t full to the brim, the adoring throng that have gathered sure make it feel like it is.

“We’re gonna play you some bullshit rock’n’roll, vocalist Cole Becker yells, but today is nothing if not sincere. Reading 2016 is underway.
