Theo Verney brings rockier edge to Latitude 2015

At a time of the early afternoon where most festival goers are only just emerging from their tents, Theo Verney has already travelled here from Holland and begun a thunderous performance on the Lake Stage.

With his recent EP ‘Brain Disease’, the Brighton-based Wichita signee is making more and more waves, and today’s set blows away every remaining cobweb and turns many heads.

Despite the travel-induced tiredness, and Verney revealing that his drummer is playing (unbelievably powerfully) with a broken wrist, the crowd swells from a smattering to a significant turn out through the half-hour slot, and ‘Heavy Sunn’ gets the biggest cheer of the day so far.

Where ‘Wake Me Softly’ is very close to grunge, ‘Sound Machine’ flickers between a straight-up rock sound and grittier punk, all a little heavier than Latitude is accustom to but one in which they revel in this afternoon.
