Two Door Cinema Club strike back at Glastonbury 2016

Blimey, it’s good to have the Northern Irish trio back in the game.

As live returns go, things don’t get much snazzier than the world’s most infamous festival stage. Greeted by a sea of wildly flailing umbrellas, Alex Trimble is bursting with an easy, slightly cocksure confidence (and sporting a new hair-do to boot) that surely comes from Two Door Cinema Club’s stadium rousing new material.

The likes of ‘Gameshow’ - the title track from the Northern Irish band’s forthcoming new album - are greeted like old pals spotted in a crowd across the Silver Hayes field. Less angular than debut cuts, and chasing after giant sprawling harmonies instead, new material dominates for a chunk before the band steam headlong into ‘Something Good Can Work’. The Pyramid field loses its shit.

Clearly focused on steaming forward, but bringing a trolley-load of older bangers to Glastonbury, blimey, it’s good to have Two Door back in the game.
