Mavis Staples confirms Glastonbury Festival appearance
The Staples Singers leader will also play dates in Liverpool and London.
Mavis Staples has confirmed that she will appear at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival. The news was broken thanks to an announcement on her touring guitarist Rick Holmstrom’s website, which confirmed her festival slot alongside details of some further live dates in London, Liverpool and Cambridge.
Staples’ confirmation on the line-up follows in the footsteps of Lionel Richie and the Dalai Lama who are already officially announced as performing at Worthy Farm this year. This year’s Glastonbury Festival takes place from 24th to 28th June.
Mavis Staples’ most recent release was in 2013 when she teamed up with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy for her gospel album ‘One True Vine’.
Staples will play the following UK dates:
JUNE
27 Glastonbury Festival
28 Liverpool, The Philharmonic Hall
30 London, Clapham Grand Theatre
JULY
01 Cambridge, Corn Exchange
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
