Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from M.I.L.K.
Copenhagen newcomer M.I.L.K. is releasing his long-awaited debut EP ’A Memory Of A Memory Of A Postcard’ at the end of this week, and its latest single ‘When You Feel Good’ is just about as nostalgia-drenched as the EP’s title suggests.
An intro full of hand claps and palm trees is then swept aside by thundering bass, around which a whole world of swooping samples make their home. A track about joining together in mutual joy, ‘When You Feel Good’ is infectious in the good times it tries to spread.
Speaking about the song, M.I.L.K. says: ”Lyrically the song is about the simple notion that good times are infectious - when other people feel good it makes you feel good. A smile from a stranger saves my day sometimes.
“And that’s actually something I really needed during the time when I wrote the song. I was craving so hard for a change in my life, so even though this is definitely a good-times-song the process of writing it was therapeutic.”
‘A Memory Of A Memory Of A Postcard’ is out on Friday (12th May). Listen to ‘When You Feel Good’ and follow M.I.L.K. at his website.
