The Cribs to record new album with Weezer producer Ric Ocasek
The Cars man was behind Weezer’s Blue and Green albums, and will helm The Cribs’ forthcoming full length.
The Cribs are set to record their new album with Weezer producer Ric Ocasek of The Cars, according to NME.
Speaking to the magazine, Ryan Jarman explained: “He doesn’t do records like a gun for hire; he chooses a band. We’ve been trying to get him since the third record, now he thinks we’re definitely good enough.”
Jarman went on to explain The Cribs have enough material for the record, taking influence from The Replacements and 80s pop. The first single, a “big fuzzy pop song” is being referred to by the band as ‘the geek rock one’.

Ric Ocasek previously produced both Weezer’s Blue and Green albums, and worked with the band on their forthcoming record ‘Everything Will Be Alright In The End’, released on September 29th.
