Ryan Adams says he’s currently covering Taylor Swift’s recent album ‘1989’ in full, with a hint of The Smiths’ influence for good measure. First Adams posted a photo to his instagram account, with the caption “Taylor Swift 1989 full album cover night 1. As played by the Smiths.”

A Taylor Swift fan soon tipped off the pop star who shout-typed back - presumably with delight - “I WILL PASS OUT.” Adams then replied to confirm the post wasn’t a joke. “Yes. Just finished ‘Style’,” he said, adding “Badass tunes, Taylor.”

He then shared a series of lyric sheets from the studio, and various progress reports; one showing the band taking pinball break before recording ‘Blank Space’.

“I’m not gonna be able to sleep tonight or ever again and I’m going to celebrate today every year as a holiday.” replied Taylor Swift, before Ryan Adams shared the first preview of his Smiths inspired ‘1989’ cover album. Listen to a snippet of his take on ‘Welcome To New York’ below.
