Deftones, U2, Years & Years postpone Paris shows in wake of terror attacks
Dates have been rescheduled in light of recent tragedies.
Deftones and Years & Years are amongst the acts to cancel or postpone Paris shows in the wake of tragic terror attacks that struck the city on Friday 13th November.
Members of Deftones were in attendance at The Bataclan during Eagles of Death Metal’s show, which was at the centre of the attacks. They’ve since cancelled their European tour, which was due to include dates at the venue. “They got out of there and all of our band and crew are safe and accounted for at the hotel now. So, we are just here, we’re pretty much on lockdown. They told everybody pretty much to stay indoors and don’t go out,” the band told CBS Sacramento last Saturday (14th November).
U2 were due to perform in Paris on Saturday, but they instead paid tribute to those killed in the attacks by laying flowers outside the Bataclan. “This is the first direct hit on music that we’ve had in this so-called war on terror, or whatever it’s called,” Bono told RTE Radio in Ireland.
The majority of Paris gigs set to take place over the weekend and tonight (16th November) have been postponed. Shows later in the week from Wavves, Hot Chip and Majical Cloudz are set to go ahead as planned - DIY has reached out for confirmation.
