Update:

“These events will go ahead as scheduled,” say ATP amid cancellation rumours

There’s still confusion surrounding the upcoming Stewart Lee and Drive Like Jehu-curated events.

“These events will go ahead as scheduled,” say ATP amid cancellation rumours
ATP Festival organisers have issued a further statement amid widespread confusion surrounding upcoming events. A Stewart Lee-curated ATP 2.0 is set to take place at Pontins, North Wales, on 15th-17th April. An unverified screengrab of a Pontins customer email claims that “the organiser has cancelled the event,” with The Quietus later recieving the same information from Pontins. In a new update, ATP organisers claim that all events will go ahead at the location and dates previously planned. “For clarity, and to reassure customers who have purchased tickets or travel for the upcoming festivals, these events will go ahead as scheduled: at Pontins Prestatyn, on 15th-17th April & 22nd-24th April [the weekend of ATP’s Drive Like Jehu-curated event]” ATP say all this confusion was caused by a “miscommunication” with Pontins. A booking agent for Pontins, meanwhile, told Billboard that the holiday company were yet to receive payment from festival organisers for upcoming events, but as far as they knew, the events had not been cancelled. Stewart Lee, who is supposedly curating the upcoming event. could shed very little light on the situation in a new interview with The Quietus. “I’ve got a babysitter, I’ve made plans,” he said, “so in that respect I’m in the same boat as everyone else.” ATP organisers are promising a full statement in the next 24 hours. ATP cancellations aren’t a rarity. A brand new festival in London, Jabberwocky, was cancelled with just a few days’ notice, prompting several impromptu events across the capital by bands who’d made the journey to the UK.
