South London songwriter Sam Akpro shares new single ‘Dusty’
The track doubles as first solo release since last year’s ‘Evenfall’, and his recent collaborative turn with TYSON.

Peckham songwriter Sam Akpro has returned with his first solo foray since the release of his debut album ‘Evenfall’, which landed last year.
Titled ‘Dusty’, the singer’s latest single also follows on from his recent collab with TYSON, ‘Wayside’, which landed earlier this year. A hazy, reflective offering that both embodies the track’s title and sees Sam ruminating on his life a year ago, it also comes accompanied by a video directed by Dylan Coates. “I wrote the instrumental a couple months back during a creative block,” Sam has said of ‘Dusty’. “It took me a while to find the melody and lyrics but once it clicked, I finished the track in a few hours. It’s a reflection on where I was over a year ago before I stopped drinking.”
Commenting on the video itself, Sam has said: “The video shows how it felt to be so stuck in a loop of addiction and how the morning after feels. Your emotions fluctuate throughout the day and that starts to latch on to those around you - you can get jaded and arguments over trivial things become the main focus. You start letting yourself and others down.”
